Mr David Keyte
Thank you for visiting Bredon School Online. I hope it will provide you with a useful introduction to our school.

Bredon is a fairly small, independent, day and boarding school welcoming boys and girls of all abilities aged from 7 to 18. The school campus is based around the picturesque Pull Court mansion, which is set in 84 acres of landscaped grounds a few miles from the Gloucestershire market town of Tewkesbury.

At Bredon, we firmly believe that in education the journey is as important as the destination. We are very proud of our reputation for genuinely treating all children as individuals, providing them with a tailor-made itinerary for their journey rather than just sending them on a package tour! Ever since it was founded in 1962, the school has set out to discover and then nurture children's strengths and talents, and to support them in overcoming any weaknesses. Our exceptionally low teacher:pupil ratio of just 1:7 is an important element in that process. Another important factor is the strength and experience of our Senior Management Team, which comprises: Vice Principals Sue Webb (responsible for academic matters, including Special Educational Needs) and Jon Smallwood (responsible for all pastoral matters), and our Director of Studies, Peter Basten.

For students needing a little extra help because of specific learning difficulties, such as dyslexia, Bredon School offers immense opportunities. Our Access Centre provides the intensive tuition and monitoring necessary to ensure real progress in key subjects such as English, mathematics and science.

We recognise that while some children will want to follow a traditional academic route at Bredon, the talents of others may lie elsewhere.

That is why we offer such an unusually broad range of vocational courses, from Business Studies and Media Studies, to those teaching metalwork and cookery, or agricultural and horticultural skills on the Bredon School Farm.

With our extensive sports pitches and large, modern sports hall, team games are a traditional strength of the school. Individual sports and activities ranging from trampolining to tennis are also on offer, always under professional supervision. And there are frequent opportunities for students to develop skills and confidence through activities such as Duke of Edinburgh Award camping expeditions and the school's programme of leadership training weekends.
