May Day family fun - 2009

Around 2,000 local people, parents and other friends of Bredon School flocked to the annual May Day Fete & Country Fair.

They enjoyed dozens of attractions, ranging from inflatable towers and a gladiator-style challenge game to plant stalls and vintage tractors. There were also several different types of shooting, from archery and clay shooting to a chance to hit a moving wild boar-shaped target with an air-rifle.

Highlights of the day included the arrival on the School cricket field of the local air ambulance and an auction in which the prizes included tickets for a Take That concert donated by the band’s Gary Barlow.

There were also pig roasts, cream teas and stalls selling burgers, ice cream and Pimms, ensuring no one went hungry or thirsty.

Proceeds from this year’s event – and of several other fund-raising events at the School during the year – are being donated to St Michael’s Hospice in Hereford.

The hospice cared for Jennifer Jeffery – the wife of Bredon’s Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator, Kevin Jeffery – who died recently. “The hospice staff were fantastic, so I am very grateful to the School staff and everyone else who has helped us to ‘give something back’.”

Here are some photos from the very successful May Day Fete held on Monday 4th May 2009.
