| Tag Rugby Tournament - May 2009 |
|
The invitation Tag Rugby Tournament got Bredon School’s May Day events off to a fast-moving start. Six teams competed in the contest held in the morning. Five teams comprised a mixture of Bredon School girls and boys from Years 6-8 and of visiting players from other schools and rugby clubs. The remaining team – the Dreamers – was made up of staff and other adults. One team set their sights particularly high when they named themselves after the world’s greatest team – the All Blacks. Fortunately, their confidence was rewarded as they won the tournament. But their victory was by no means easy – they tied with two other teams on 10 points and won the competition only when tries for and against were taken into account. The team named 911 were runners-up and the Flying Flamingoes were third. The Dreamers were fourth. Mike Carolan, the independent school’s Head of Sports, said: “This was a really good event, with everyone giving their best. Tag rugby is a great, fast-moving game, and because it’s a non-contact sport, boys and girls of different ages can all play together.” |
