| Under 12/13s Rugby v Hanley Castle - Autumn 2009 |
|
Lost 0-17 Bredon started the game in a very positive manner but found themselves defending their own half early on in the game as the opposition's stronger players forced the Bredon players to make tackle after tackle without gaining much ground. Excellent tackling by forwards Jed Rowe, Oscar Bates and David Fellows diluted Hanley’s pressure and saw Jose Ruiz Pastor and Tom Forrester break clear, only to be brought to the ground on a number of occasions. Unlucky to capitalise on this, Bredon conceded three tries and a conversion to finish an exciting game with the final score Bredon 0 – Hanley 17. Despite the scoreline this was an enjoyable game to watch and a fantastic opportunity for young players to play the game. Incredibly, eight of the team representing the School were playing their first competitive game, including Jose, who became the first Spanish student to play rugby for Bredon. Excellent captaincy by Oscar Bates. Man of the Match – For his excellent tackling throughout the game – Jed Rowe |
