Going the distance

Two members of Bredon School staff and three Sixth Form boys successfully completed this year’s Tewkesbury half-marathon, raising nearly £150 for the Help for Heroes charity.

Assistant Vice Principal Mr Tony Abraham said “We started in chilly conditions but it wasn’t long before the sun gave some welcome warmth to provide ideal running conditions.”

Nearly 1,200 runners took place in the race, first home for Bredon was Mr Mike Carolan, belying his years and completing the course in a little over 1 hour and 38 minutes. In his first ever half-marathon Harry Jones put all his cross country experience to good use and made it round in a fraction over 1 hour and 45 minutes. The clock could not separate Sam Lovett and Andrew Duncan and they both made it round in 1 hour 54 minutes and 30 seconds but Mr Abraham missed out on the 2 hour mark by 36 seconds. He has since been spotted eating two desserts “I’m already loading up with carbohydrates for next year!” he said.
