![]() Issy Williams, Megan Bates and Annie Ralph Issy Williams, aged 11, who has been playing hockey for just over a year, was selected for the Worcestershire U13 Squad, while 11-year-old Megan Bates was picked for the Development Squad. Megan only started to play hockey in September when she joined Bredon School, near Tewkesbury, which lies close to the Gloucestershire-Worcestershire border. Thirteen-year-old Annie Ralph was chosen for the U15 County Squad. This will be her second season with the County squad; last year she played for the county in several games. "Nearly 200 girls from schools across the county took part in the Trials," said Head of Girls' Sport at Bredon, Conryn Abbott. "To get three girls through from a relatively small school such as ours is a fantastic achievement." The day and boarding school has around 230 boys and girls, aged 7-18. All the girls had to compete for their selection. They did a long warm-up, followed by a series of skills practices and finally a game. They were marked on their performances by eight selectors during all three sessions. The girls will now benefit from regular training with Worcestershire's youth coaches.
