Bredon School lies just outside the traditional English village of Bushley in rolling countryside on the borders of Gloucestershire and Worcestershire.Nearby are the ancient market towns of Tewkesbury and Upton-upon-Severn. To the north lie the Malvern Hills and Worcester, while a little way south are the world-famous Cotswold Hills and the delightful spa town of Cheltenham. Yet despite its idyllic location, the school has excellent transport links: it is close to the M5 and M50 motorways, just a few miles from a railway station and two hours from London or 45 minutes from Birmingham Airport. At the heart of the school campus is Pull Court, a magnificent 160-year-old mansion, with a sweeping staircase and panelled rooms built in the grand manner. Surrounding Pull Court are 84 acres of grounds, including mature parkland and gardens, large areas set aside for sports pitches and the Bredon School farm. Everything is designed with children in mind: there is a BMX cycle track, a zip wire, a climbing tower, an adventure play circuit and an open-air swimming pool - to name just a few of the outdoor attractions. Bredon School 's very large, modern sports hall offers great opportunities for all-weather activities, from basketball and trampolining to indoor cricket and gymnastics. The school workshops for both metalwork and woodwork are well equipped and well used, as are the science laboratories. The art facilities include a pottery room, and the school is fully equipped to teach cookery to professional standards. Finally, in addition to the IT facilities throughout the school, Bredon recently opened its new Access Centre. Based in two inter-linked classrooms, the Centre has 16 networked computers as well as electronic whiteboards and digital projectors. Using the latest specialist educational software, teachers can work with children in the Access Centre to provide intensive support for specific learning difficulties, such as dyslexia. ![]() |
