Senior Rounders Match Report

On Wednesday 23rd May the Senior girls rounders team played a match against John Masefield High School. Bredon chose to bat first and put on a spectacular display of powerful hitting.

Synthia Bengele Ali, Bliss Lam, Megan Bates, Lucy Matthews and Esther Botalibo Bengele all scored several rounders each.  The rest of the team also kept adding to the score sheet by making sure they scored at least half rounders.  At the end of the innings they had scored 15 ½ rounders.  Positive fielding kept the John Masefield team at bay causing them to only score 11 ½ rounders.

Taking the lead into the second half Bredon new that they needed to stay focused.  The John Masefield team changed their fielding and stopped some of our ‘big hitters’ scoring full rounders.  Despite this, Bredon still managed to score a further 12 ½ rounders.  To win the game John Masefield needed 17 rounders, a mammoth task!

The final score was 28-25 to Bredon, an excellent and well deserved win.  Player of the match was Bliss Lam for her excellent hitting.  Well done to all who played.

U14 Rounders Match Report

On Thursday 24th May the U14 rounders team played a match against Bowbrook House School. The Bredon team opened the batting with a nervous and cautious innings. There were several half rounders scored, and one full rounder from Alice Stevens. Despite some good hits the fielding was accurate which made it difficult to score. The Bowbrook team batted with confidence and took advantage of several fielding errors. The score at the end of the first half was 11 ½ – 4 ½ to Bowbrook.

In the second innings the Bredon team had settled and stepped up to the challenge. They knew they were behind and had a lot to prove. A more aggressive and focused team effort was rewarded. Esther Botalibo Bengele and Alice Stevens scored some full rounders and the rest of the team put pressure on the opposition to make their efforts count too. When Bowbrook batted they knew that Bredon had set the target and would have to match their first innings performance to win.

Although Bredon won the second innings 8 ½- 6 rounders, the final score was 17 ½ -13 to Bowbrook.

Player of the match was Millie Hems for her consistent performance when fielding. Well done on a much improved team performance.
