Cisco CCNA Routing & Switching
You will learn about switches, their role within a network, how to program them and how to troubleshoot a problem at this level. You will learn about routers, their role in a network, how to program them and how to troubleshoot issues at this level. You will learn about IP addressing and subnet masking and how to determine an addressing scheme.
How is the course structured and graded?
The course consists of various units each with nine to twelve chapters. We aim to complete the first two units within four terms after which students will sit the ICND-1 External Exam. Students must pass this exam before they will be allowed to continue with the third and fourth
units. The course material is a mixture of theoretical and practical work. Students must gain 70% for both practical and theory final exams to gain a pass certification.
Will this course be suitable for me?
If you are interested in computers and networking then this course will be suitable. The course is very much ‘full on’ and occupies two option blocks. Students will thus have 10 periods per week. There are no pre-requisites for this course other than being prepared to work very hard.
What could this course lead to?
The main focus is to help students gain proper apprenticeships in the IT Sector. There are also various options should students wish to continue with their studies at a higher education facility.
CISCO Industry Certification Level 3
There is a fee of £80 per term. This fee will cover all text books, online registrations, internal exams and local visits. External Industry Certification exams are not covered by the fee. In addition to the fee, a major subsidy from Bredon School makes CISCO study possible for our students
