Music

In this course, you will learn the best practices for composing music of different genres and for evaluating your compositions, develop your listening skills, enhance your performance skills and learn how to appraise music. Alongside this course you will also have the chance to develop your theory knowledge.

How is the course structured and graded?
The Music unit is made up of four modules which are worth between 4 and 5 credits. You can achieve the course at either an Award or Certificate, which depends upon how many modules you complete in total. Your teacher will advise you which qualification you will work towards.

Will this course be suitable for me?
To be successful on this course, it is helpful if you are learning at least one musical instrument at Grade 2 level and are able to identify notes on the treble clef stave.


What could this course lead to?
On completion of this course you will have the correct knowledge and experience to undertake a BTEC Level 1/2 in Music and Music Technology. This course will be suitable
if you wish to learn more about the music industry or embark on a career within the music industry.
