Design and Technology (Unit Award)
The use of materials as well as components, tools, processes and finishes to design and make quality products and carry out practical tasks. The focus can be on either Resistant Materials (wood, metal, polymers and ‘smart’ materials) or Textiles
How is the course structured and graded?
The Unit Award Scheme is a way of accrediting skills through certification but is not a formal qualification. It allows you to build practical skills through project work, each of which are then certificated at an equivalent level. By the end of the course you will have a portfolio of work demonstrating your skills and certification for each project completed. This can be used to take to employers as a record of your skills and achievements.

Do you enjoy learning about materials and processes
as well as designing and making things? You’ll need to carry out practical work safely and accurately to achieve high quality products. This course is ideal for you if you like hands-on practical learning and are willing to turn imaginative ideas into reality.
