Theme 2: Local, national, international and global of interest (Topics: Home, town, neighbourhood and region; Social issues; Global issues; Travel and tourism). Theme 3: Current and future study and employment (Topics: My studies; Life at school; Education post-16; Jobs, career choices and ambitions).

How is the course structured and graded?

There is one exam in each skill (Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking) at end of Year 11. In particular, the course tests your ability to recall vocabulary for each topic and accurately apply grammar rules. You have to be able to communicate both written and verbally in addition to understanding short extracts of listening recordings and reading passages. Exams last for between 1 hour 15 mins and 20 mins depending on the paper. Higher Tier and Foundation Tier are available.
