With the ever-evolving digital world, safeguarding our children and young people online is of paramount importance and we want to ensure we support our pupils in the best possible way.
Bredon is part of the Childnet Digital Leaders Programme, a peer-led online safety programme open to all schools in the UK. We have recruited our own team of ten Digital Leaders from across different year groups who empower and educate their peers, as well as parents, guardians and teachers about staying safe online. Additionally, they are the School's 'champions' when addressing digital citizenship and digital creativity in the school community.
As digital educators and role models, our Digital Leaders offer advice and support with any concerns pupils may have. They undergo a structured online training programme and receive ongoing support from the Childnet expert team to help them deal with concerns effectively and appropriately and be better informed about ongoing digital issues.
Our Digital Leaders take the lead on delivering impactful online safety activities within the School throughout the year, such as Safer Internet Day, running interactive workshops for pupils, and inviting guest speakers to discuss issues around internet safety. So far, the programme has been very successful within the school community, and has significantly increased awareness of online safety among pupils across all year groups.
Each year the Digital Leader team recruit for new members to help promote the importance of staying safe online.
