Land Based Studies

You will learn the basic aspects of agriculture on a principally livestock farm. You will learn how to provide the principles of livestock husbandry across the range of animals we have on our farm. Modules include Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Care, Environment and Countryside Management and Health and Safety.

How is the course structured and graded?

This course is entirely vocational. No grade is given, however on completion of this course you will be awarded a certificate which will count towards your final qualification should you choose to progress to the ASDAN course in Sixth Form or BTEC Level 2 in Agriculture.

Will this course be suitable for me?

The course involves a great deal of practical work. You will be on the farm for most lessons, taking part in husbandry tasks and helping the Farm Manager with the day to day running of the farm. You should enjoy working with animals and being outdoors. There is also an element of written work.

What could this course lead to?

This course is aimed at pupils who may wish to study the ASDAN course and/or a BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Agriculture in Sixth Form.
