Combined Cadet Force

Leadership, resilience and adventure

From Year 9 onwards, all students at Bredon School have the opportunity to join our thriving Combined Cadet Force (CCF), a Ministry of Defence-sponsored youth organisation that plays a key role in developing confidence, responsibility and leadership skills.

Why CCF matters

The CCF gives students the chance to learn through challenge. Through military and adventure training, cadets gain:

  • Responsibility and self-reliance
  • Leadership and teamwork
  • Resilience, discipline and perseverance

Our cadets follow the values and standards of the British Army – courage, integrity, loyalty, respect, discipline and selfless commitment – within a supportive and inclusive school setting.

Weekly training and activities

Each week, cadets take part in practical and engaging sessions that build real-world skills:

  • Skills at arms
  • Navigation
  • First Aid
  • Drill and parade
  • Bushcraft and survival
  • Camouflage and concealment
  • Patrol techniques
  • Climbing, canoeing and orienteering

Training is both structured and dynamic, ensuring students stay engaged while developing core competencies.

Camps, adventure & opportunity

Beyond the weekly programme, cadets enjoy regular training weekends and camps at Army bases across the UK. These trips offer new challenges and environments, and opportunities to bond as a team.

Cadets also take part in non-military training such as kayaking, sailing and rock climbing – encouraging broader skill development and personal growth.

Pathways for progress

Cadets who show enthusiasm, skill and dedication can rise through the non-commissioned officer ranks, taking on leadership roles within the section. While there is no requirement to join the Armed Forces, the CCF gives students a deep understanding of teamwork, service and structured training.

Real-world skills for life

Above all, the CCF provides students with practical life skills, confidence and resilience that support success beyond the classroom – whether in further education, employment or everyday challenges.

At Bredon, the CCF isn’t just an activity – it’s an experience that shapes futures.
