Beyond the Sixth Form Classroom

Life in Bredon’s Sixth Form is about more than study – it’s about preparing for life after school. Alongside their chosen courses, students step into leadership roles, enjoy unique opportunities and gain the independence and confidence they’ll need for the future, whilst also enjoying time with friends, a strong sense of community and the everyday moments that make Sixth Form life so special.

Leadership & Enrichment

Our Sixth Form students play an important role in school life at Bredon. Supporting younger students through mentoring, clubs, Outdoor Education and leadership roles across the school.

Opportunities include:

  • Prefect, Heads of House and Heads of School opportunities
  • CCF leadership roles for Sixth Form Cadets
  • Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and expeditions
  • Work experience each year in careers that students are interested in
  • Catering kitchen placements in school for those interested in hospitality
  • Practical farm qualifications in agriculture and animal care

These experiences help our students grow in confidence, responsibility and independence while preparing for life beyond school.

The Wainwright Sessions

The Wainwright Sessions are a much-loved part of Sixth Form life, bringing together alumni, parents and industry professionals to share their experiences and career journeys. Talks cover a wide range of paths, with a particular focus on opportunities for neurodiverse students and the many different routes available after school.

Named after Old Bredonian Rob Wainwright, whose generosity helped fund the barn, the sessions reflect the strong and supportive community that continues long after students leave school. Alumni often return to speak warmly about their time here, offering advice, encouragement and inspiration for the next generation.

Preparing for Life After Bredon

By the time students leave Bredon, they take with them far more than qualifications. Bredonians leave with confidence in who they are, a strong sense of values and the understanding that dyslexia can be a strength, not a barrier.

Every student has their own story, and every success is celebrated. Through supportive teaching and dyslexia-friendly approaches, students grow in confidence, independence and resilience, ready to take their next steps, whether towards university, apprenticeships, creative industries, entrepreneurship or beyond.

“Sixth Form is a great balance of responsibility and friendship — from being prefects and helping others, to camps, events and simply spending time together playing pool or board games. It’s a really enjoyable place to be.” Sixth Form Student
