Sports

A vital part of Bredon life

At Bredon School, sport and extracurricular activities play a key role in helping students develop confidence, teamwork and resilience. Our aim is simple: to support every student in leading a healthy, active and well-rounded life.

For students with dyslexia, sport also provides a valuable opportunity to shine in ways that aren’t always visible in the classroom. It helps build confidence, sharpens focus and strengthens skills such as coordination, communication and decision-making. Just as importantly, it offers the chance to experience success in a different setting, helping to foster a strong sense of self-belief.

Exceptional facilities

We’re proud to offer an outstanding range of on-site sports facilities, including:

  • A fully equipped sports hall
  • Expansive playing fields and floodlit astro pitch
  • A dedicated clay pigeon shooting ground
  • Outdoor climbing facilities
  • Outdoor swimming pool
  • Recently updated strengthening and conditioning facility
  • Mountain bike track in the Forst School

Whether it’s team games, individual sports or outdoor pursuits, our facilities provide the space, variety and quality needed for every student to explore new activities and develop their skills.

Developing Strength, Skills and Confidence

All students take part in timetabled PE and Games lessons, where they:

  • Build strength, coordination and movement skills
  • Learn the value of safe and effective exercise
  • Explore a range of sports and discover new interests

From developing tactical awareness to understanding health and fitness, Bredon’s physical education programme sets students up for lifelong wellbeing.

Opportunity for all

Through our inclusive sports ethos, students are encouraged to take part at every level – whether trying something for the first time or competing for county and national honours.

  • Regular inter-house competitions build camaraderie and healthy rivalry
  • Talented athletes are identified and supported to compete at higher levels
  • No matter the ability or background, we believe every student can grow through sport.

Beyond the sports field

Bredon’s extracurricular programme is as diverse as our students. Taught by passionate subject specialists, it includes:

  • Creative clubs
  • Performing arts
  • STEM and digital skills
  • Outdoor and environmental activities

Students are encouraged to step out of their comfort zones, try something new and develop leadership skills in a supportive setting.

Equestrian activities

For beginners and experienced riders alike, Bredon’s equestrian sessions include:

  • Riding instruction (flatwork, jumping, cross-country)
  • Age-appropriate stable management
  • Skills development at every level

Whether building confidence in the saddle or refining technical skills, students develop responsibility and self-awareness through this rewarding activity.

Building skills for life

Whether on the field, stage or workshop floor, every activity helps build the confidence, curiosity and character that students carry into the wider world.

At Bredon, we don’t just develop performers and players – we help young people discover who they are and what they can achieve.
