Bredon Wins ISA Award 2018 for Excellence and Innovation in the Fine Arts

Posted: 12th November 2018

Bredon School is celebrating winning a prestigious Independent Schools Association (ISA) Award 2018 for Excellence and Innovation in the Fine Arts in recognition of the school’s innovative teaching techniques and opportunities to enhance pupils’ learning in the Arts.

Bredon’s Headteacher Mr Koen Claeys comments on the award win: “We are delighted to win this fantastic award which pays tribute to the wonderful Fine Arts provision here at Bredon. All our teaching is designed with dyslexia in mind, making our learning active, practical and accessible. This is particularly highlighted through our innovative and dynamic teaching and learning in Fine Arts.”

“One of the renowned strengths of our Fine Arts learning environment is our investment in the latest technology to enhance learning for our students. Steered by our Head of Photography and Art, Mrs Haines, we have replaced traditional sketch books with an on-line blogging platform as the main learning resource for our photography students. This is extremely beneficial for those students with dyslexia and other specific learning profiles as it can work in tangent with software and assistive learning technology.”

The Awards are an annual event that celebrate success in ISA Members’ schools, and recognises the breadth of quality and provision in independent education across the country. The Awards cover everything from Early Years provision, to innovation in the Fine Arts, Performing Arts or STEM. According to ISA, the Awards this year have been even more hotly-contested than usual, with a 20 percent increase in entries from schools all over the country. The winners were revealed at a prestigious Awards Ceremony on Thursday 8 November 2018 in Coventry.

This latest win follows Bredon’s success last year in the ISA Awards 2017 when the School won the ISA Senior School Award for Academic Excellence and Innovation for our work experience programme.
