Bredon School appoints new Headmaster for September 2019

Posted: 7th May 2019

Bredon School has announced the appointment of Mr Nick Oldham to the role of Headmaster with effect from September 2019. Nick joins Bredon School from West Heath School in Kent where he is currently the Deputy Principal.

Mr Oldham is a highly qualified and experienced senior leader who will bring a wealth of expertise in both boarding and day schooling to Bredon. He comments on his appointment: “I am really looking forward to joining Bredon School and working with the excellent teaching and pastoral teams. The School is recognised for the high quality of its specialist teaching and learning approach and was recently named as the number one school in the UK for ‘value added’ progress at Post-16. It is an exciting time to be taking the helm at Bredon as we increase pupil numbers and further enhance our specialist provision.”

Mr Oldham is a strong advocate for ‘learning outside the classroom’ which is also one of the hallmarks of Bredon given its beautiful 84-acre rural site, working school farm, forest school and extensive Outdoor Education programme.

Before taking up a career in teaching Mr Oldham played top level rugby, representing England throughout the age groups, and captained London Wasps at academy level. Nick is married with three young children and will relocate to Gloucestershire to take up his new post. Outside of school, he is a proud owner of a flock of rare breed sheep and he enjoys spending time in the countryside with his family.

Bredon School is part of the Cavendish Education group of schools. Aatif Hassan, Chairman of Cavendish Education, comments: “We are delighted to be welcoming Mr Oldham to Bredon as Headmaster. He has a strong understanding of the qualities and potential of our Bredon pupils and will make a significant contribution to the school as it continues to go from strength-to-strength.”

Nick Oldham succeeds Bredon’s current Headteacher, Koen Claeys, who has been appointed as Headteacher of The Moat School in London from September.
