You will learn about many aspects of business including marketing, human resources management, finance, business management, business online (including website design), international business, business law, and business and the economy. Studying real businesses through trips, outside speakers and even work experience brings business to life. You will begin to think like a business person and apply these principles to your future employment.
How is the course structured and graded?
This qualification is available as a three unit Certificate (equivalent to an AS Level) and a six unit Introductory Diploma (equivalent to a full A Level). Initially you will work towards the first three units, which are: The Business Environment, Business Resources, and Introduction to
Marketing; other units are based on pupils interests and strengths. You can achieve the course at either a Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction* grade; equivalent to an E, C, A or A* grade.
Will this course be suitable for me?
An interest in the business world is vital to the course. As much of the course is assessed through written coursework, to succeed in Business Studies you will need to be able to organise your ideas to analyse business concepts and issues in detail. You will need to be able to use the resources available to you to produce a range of business reports, presentations and proposals.
What could this course lead to?
Ideal for studying business related courses or preparing for the workplace. Students taking this course have gone on to study a wide range of business disciplines and other subjects at university and colleges. Others have moved onto apprenticeships in business or employment.
