Combined Cadet Force
Every pupil, from Year 10 upwards, is given the opportunity to be part of Bredon’s thriving Combined Cadet Force (CCF). A number of our pupils have gone on to pursue military careers, inspired by their involvement in our CCF.
The CCF is a Ministry of Defence-sponsored youth organisation which aims to ‘provide a disciplined organisation in a school so that pupils may develop powers of leadership by means of training to promote the qualities of responsibility, self reliance, resourcefulness, endurance and perseverance.’
Pupils who join the CCF at Bredon take part in weekly training every Friday afternoon when they undertake a range of activities and drills including:
-
Skill at Arms
-
Navigation
-
First Aid
-
Drill
-
Bush craft
-
Camouflage and concealment
-
Patrol techniques
-
Survival skills
-
Canoeing
-
Climbing.
Cadets also have the opportunity to experience regular adventure training weekends and week-long camps on Army bases around the UK. Our week-long camps usually take place at the end of the Summer term in the Lake District, Pembrokeshire or the New Forest. Our cadets also have the chance to experience regular adventure training weekends during the Autumn term.
Our CCF pupils perform duties at the School’s annual Remembrance Service and as part of the local Tewkesbury Remembrance Parade.
